Training
The member galleries had the chance of discussing and asking questions about the practices of international law for the art sector during a two-day meeting in São Paulo.
Entitled “Legal and Strategic Issues for Contemporary Art Galleries in Brazil”, the workshop was led by British lawyer and curator Daniel McClean. Invited to come to Brazil by Latitude especially for this activity, McClean structured the presentation focusing on four major themes: Intellectual Property, Commissioning Art, Relationship with Artists/Estates and Other Galleries and Relationship with Buyers.
Many of the issues raised will certainly be useful for the sector to rethink their practices and reflect about ways of performing international business more assertively.
